The WB Network joins the CDL-ms2 (CD-less mSoft music society)
Burbank's WB, a long time mSoft SFX server client, has just ordered a 7TB MusicCue server system. The Enterprise grade server will feed music to all their Avid users, as well as allowing every producer access to music from their browsers' desktop. Craig MacEachern, WB's VP On-Air Production, placed the order which has been long anticipated since he first saw the system at NAB 2002. The WB's Leonard Richardson and Bekki Newton are excited to finally get to use the system they've been asking for to manage the walls of CDs that have been closing in around them for years. We're proud to have been selected as both their music management and sound effects solution - welcome to the CDL-ms2!
Starz/Encore orders 2.5 TB Server!
Denver's Starz/Encore has just ordered a 2.5 TB system for its music and SFX libraries. The sale was spearheaded by S/E's David Carey and Sean Richardson, who were meticulous in making sure that the system was adequate for their needs. They chose our Large Enterprise grade server with dual Xeon processor, Giga-E NIC and the works for their 14 Avid and numerous producers that constantly need access to all their music. The system is the latest of its kind to go into the Denver market, which includes Post Modern, Colorado Production Group, and the old Westwind Media. Installation is slated for mid-August, and we are proud to have yet another network choose mSoft as its audio management solutions provider.
Independent Studios of Milwaukee orders the city's first mSoft server
Milwaukee's Independent Studios has just ordered a 1TB system for managing their SFX and music libraries. The 2TB server will handle their current 1.5TB of music and SFX and still have room for about 800 CDs of new music updates - of course, they won't come on CD, they'll arrive every month on a USB2 drive (we call 'em "data trucks") that they unload into the system and send back for next month's music. Peter Batchelder, the facility's music librarian, recommended the system to owner Randy Bobo and Trish Sheppard, Independents' Business Manager; as the edge they needed to let him spend his time putting his considerable music knowledge to work for their customers and not digging through lost and scratched CDs. The studio is a full service audio facility with three sound studios with adjoining recording booths, offers sound design for picture and radio, surround sound mixing, recording, ISDN capabilities, original music composition and (obviously) extensive music and sound effects libraries. The system is the first mSoft server in the city, and should be a huge selling point for bringing new business into the already busy facility started by Randy in 1991.
Average Joe rents "Killerserver" for a second season of CD-less production!
Last season, Killer Tracks arranged a special rental deal for their client, the NBC show "Average Joe". Included in their music licensing costs was the complete Killer Tracks family of libraries on a server from mSoft. When the season was over, back it came, but the new season is starting and a new server is being installed. We're proud to have the customer confidence that repeat business signifies, and thank Killer Tracks and Average Joe for their trust and support.
CBS orders complete redundant failover system
When you really like something - as in "really have to have it all the time" - you get a spare for "just in case". CBS must really like their mSoft MusicCue system, because they just ordered "a spare". The new system will function as a dedicated server for their corporate network, with both systems serving as a failover system for each other. The deal included an upgrade to the new ADTX 15 bay L-15 fiber-SATA RAID units, which offer up to 6TB usable storage for music in each 4U rackmount unit with the new 400GB drives. Both systems will be 12TB each - for those of you that don't think in TB, that means that each system has a total capacity of about 15,000 CDs.
Grey Advertising adds 300GB more of music!
Grey Advertising of New York is one of New York's oldest mSoft installations, but up until this point, other than one music library, it has used the system primarily as a SFX server. Grey has just added 300GB of assorted music from its extensive music collection in an effort to test the water with an eye towards putting all of their music on line. Howard Bowler of Grey placed the order, which included upgrading their software and getting the new Macintosh mSoft player 2.0 interfaces for their workstations.
Meet the newest additions to the mSoft sales team
We are very happy to welcome Carol Haverty and Jim Verderame to our sales team, and would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to them.
Carol is our new Director of Business Development, and comes to us from Los Angeles Post Music, where she was Director of Sales & Marketing. She also has a background in search and retrieval technologies from her prior work with Fast Search & Transfer and corporate sales experience with Fortune 500 and new media companies.
If you've gotten a call from him and you're wondering why his voice sounds so familiar, Jim was an account executive at the Hollywood Edge and has probably called you to sell you some of their great SFX libraries in the past. After that, Jim was in charge of the production of their music & sound effects libraries, being a highly skilled ProTools editor.
Luckily, both could pass the guitar proficiency exam that is required to be hired as a sales person at mSoft (we're kidding of course, but six strings are the "through line" for mSoft sales people) - so if they call and you're having problems with your Stratocaster, they might be able to help you with that as well. We feel very lucky to have found such well qualified people in Carol and Jim, and think that you will feel the same when you meet them.
So - the summer continues to heat up here in Los Angeles and the orders continue to flow in - if you want to find out how to join the rapidly growing elite of the "CDL-ms2" - call us today for a quote at 800-489-9314 or 818-716-7081!
