WWE Adds a 5TB Fully Redundant MusicCue Server to the Mix

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) of Stanford, CT already had a ServerSound SFX system in place on their Fairlight MediaLink server, but why stop with sound effects when you have thousands of music CDs on the shelf? But how to keep the search speed blazing fast and still give the Fairlight production workstations the bandwidth they need on their network, when they knew that every producer in the place would use it to audition music all day long?

WWE's solution was to add a separate 5TB MusicCue system. Producers create lists of music files, then copy these lists to shared storage that the isolated Fairlights can see. And because they knew they could not afford to be without it for any reason after it was installed, they also decided to add a fully redundant mirrored 5TB back up server system as a fall back for emergencies. WWE's Marty Ludwin and Chris Argento personally worked with mSoft on the system's specifications, and it looks like their network and music search problems will be "smacked down, pinned to the mat, and down for the count" in 2004.

The Post Group Installs ServerSound and MediaLink

The Post Group, one of the longest existing, most successful post facilities in Hollywood, has entered the digital audio search world with a 160GB ServerSound Lite SFX system. Long established as a winning operation in Hollywood, this is their first foray into digital file management for SFX and we are stoked that TPG's Rick Wilson chose mSoft to do it. With their three Fairlight producers and one ProTools sharing a set of CDs "down the hall and across the way" and a special year end price from mSoft - why not? The server was also loaded with MediaLink software purchased from Media Gear, the Fairlight specialists for the US.

Price Break for the Holidays

If you're thinking about going digital with your audio storage - and we highly recommend it for all the time savings - or if you just need to go a little bigger with your established system, check out this great holiday discount. Through the end of the year (Dec. 31, 2003), if you are an existing customer with one of our server systems, you can bump up your storage on the cheap with mSoft's awesome subscription package: only $300 per month per TB with audio or $250 per month per TB without audio, based on a 24-month contract. That represents a significant price cut and makes adding audio quite affordable. Here's the fine print: this offer is subject to credit approval and does not include any software or hardware, other than hard drives.

Or are you feeling left out, and want a special year-end deal to finally GET a system in your stocking? Call us for a quote ASAP, so you can take advantage of these offers before our accountant gets back from vacation on Jan 1!

Venice CA's Spot Welders Adds System for SFX and Popular Music Management

Spot Welders of Venice, CA just ordered a 1TB system to handle its SFX and pop/soundtrack CDs. Spot Welders' Alex Israel purchased the system for the facility to record its own pop and soundtrack collection as 1:6 compressed MP3 files since they will primarily be used as temporary tracks. To keep costs down, Spot Welders will subscribe to mSoft on a month-to-month rental contract. Their system will be the "second on their block" in Venice, CA - their "walking distance" neighbor Ravenswork got a system from us a few months ago. Welcome to mSoft "Venice Beach User's Group," Spot Welders!.

...So, to borrow from a familiar holiday tale, "ere we exclaimed as we drove out of sight" - Happy Holidays and a Hugely Humongous New Year to all our production friends - it feels like we are finally through the "Post 9-11 Slump" and 2004 will be a great one for our industry!
